Team Parkinson's 2013
Team Parkinson’s is a group of athletes and enthusiasts who push their own physical limits to help raise funds and awareness for the Northwest Parkinson’s community. Now in its 14th year, Team Parkinson’s has raised over $1.2 million and inspired more than 1,500 people to walk, bike, hike and run to support the cause. Together team members have finished more than 305,000 miles on their journey toward hope and wellness.
The cornerstone of our Team Parkinson’s campaign is the 204-mile Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic held July 13-14, 2013. Now in its 34th year, the STP is the largest multi-day ride in the Northwest with up to 10,000 riders making the journey through Western Washington and Oregon. In return for their participation, Team Parkinson’s members receive premium support from NWPF throughout the ride. Benefits for Team Parkinson’s riders include hosted stops that feature free bike repairs, catered meals, high performance snacks and complimentary massage.
However, participation in Team Parkinson's is not restricted to the STP. Individuals and groups are encouraged to create their own activity - be it a run, walk, swim - and use the Team Parkinson's platform for inspiration and motivation while raising needed support for Parkinson's care.
By joining Team Parkinson’s, members commit to raising a minimum of $500 for the NWPF. Through the NWPF’s website they create personal donation pages and recruit supporters to help raise funds for their efforts. In recognition of their support, all Team Parkinson’s members receive a free Team Parkinson’s cycling jersey or t-shirt that prominently displays their involvement in Team Parkinson’s and recognizes our valuable sponsors. They also receive online community support from fellow team members and the joy of raising funds and awareness for the Parkinson’s community.
