CoQ10. A clinical trial was conducted in 2002 to see if CoQ10, a dietary supplement, had any benefit for the PD patient. The trial was performed by a limited number of participants and conducted by the patent holder of the supplement. The results came back that at the highest dose, 1200 mg. CoQ10 might be neuroprotective. Because of possible bias in the study and the limited participants, NIH has decided to do their own trials. If you’ve wondered if you should be taking this supplement, I might suggest waiting for the NIH study to see if there really is a benefit. It’s a very expensive supplement, especially at the doses suggested by the early study.
