The Clinician

It is the clinician’s job to evaluate you, over time, to insure you are a good candidate for the procedure. Only over a period of months and many visits can a clinician see how well you react to medication, if you’ve maximized the benefit of medication, how well you perform on a neuropsychology exam, as well as evaluate your general health and ability to undergo major surgery. You want a clinician that has evaluated many patients and is also an expert on maximizing your medication cocktail. Seeing a Movement Disorder Specialist is a good move when possible. This is not an evaluation that can be done in a day, let alone an hour. It takes time and patience. Remember, this is brain surgery!
