Stress

PD is the perfect barometer for stress. Stress exacerbates PD symptoms. Whenever you seem to be having an exceptionally trying day ask yourself “what’s causing me stress?” Inevitably, we can often identify a stressor and know that if we can somehow diminish the stress, the day will improve.

Comments:

I must not attempt walking if stressed at all. I always fall on my aching knees. When I cannot control the stressor, I resort to 5-10 mg diazepam which also helps clear the mind for sleep.

We cannot live without stress, but there are good stresses and BAD stresses. I feel that taking medication to help overcome the stress, like taking alcohol, does not do anything to remove the cause of the stress. We first have to analyse the cause of the stress. We may know what situation causes the stress, but that does not mean that we know everything about that situation. Who is to blame for the problem? Am I to blame? Am I partly to blame? Can I do anything about the situation to remove the stress? Am I being selfish or manipulative? When I accept that my quality of life is being affected by this stress, is it not easier for me to accept that I have to deal with the problem, and then get on with my life? We might lose a battle, but we can still win the war!
