NAMED FUNDS AND FAMILY FUNDS
NWPF offers several different options for people who are looking to pay special tribute to a person with Parkinson’s who has touched their lives in a meaningful way.
Family Funds: $2,500 and above
Family members and friends can create a Family Fund in honor of a loved one with a minimum donation of $2,500. The donations we receive through the creation of family funds will be used to support the general operations of the NWPF. Gifts can be designated to the family fund by writing the name of the fund on a NWPF gift envelope or making a notation on the memo line of a check or online donation. Families are welcome to choose how the fund is listed in our contributor lists, with the suggested format of <First Name Last Name> Family Fund.
Once we receive your information, we will send you a letter confirming the creation of the fund and will provide you with an annual summary of donations to the fund after December 31 of each year. We will also list the fund in every edition of the Parkinson’s Post and permanently list the fund on the Family and Named Funds page of the NWPF website.
Contact Keri Kellerman, development director, at 1.877.980.7500 or keri@nwpf.org if you have questions or want to learn more about setting up a special fund for the NWPF.
Currently Established Family Funds:
Mary A. Mitchell Memorial Fund
“We were looking for a way to help others while honoring the memory of our devoted mom and wife” – The Mitchell Family. My dad and siblings have all been active with the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation since our mom, Mary A. Mitchell, was diagnosed. They helped us understand some of the things that she was going through and helped us realize that we were not alone in dealing with the challenges of Parkinson’s.
When our mother passed away on February 2, we began the tough task of making all of the arrangements for her memorial. Early on, we decided that rather than just having people send flowers in her remembrance, we would ask that they make donations to the NWPF. It was then that I called and talked with the NWPF and found out that we could set up a special lifetime fund in honor of Mary. Not only would the donations received from family and friends at the memorial go into the fund, but all future donations in her name and the funds I raise in my annual Group Health Seattle to Portland bike ride for NWPF would also go into this fund in her honor. We now have a lifetime memorial established that we know will help others who are also impacted by Parkinson’s disease.

Alvord Medical Director Fund
in honor of Roger Evans
Dr. Ellsworth and Nancy Alvord established the Alvord Medical Director Fund in December of 2009 to honor of their friend and neighbor Roger Evans and his journey with Parkinson’s. Their generous gift will help cover the costs of salary expenses for Dr. Monique Giroux, the NWPF medical director, over the coming years. Through her position, Dr. Giroux brings greater credibility to the information on health and wellness that the NWPF provides through our programs and helps us build stronger connections with the medical and funding communities.
